How to Stop Procrastination

Later is not always better

Later is not always better, it should be never. Procrastination is one of the major problems of our society, especially today because of wireless connections delaying top priorities. Postponements, interruptions, disturbances, breaks—all of these are metaphors of doing things maybe later, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, next year or worst, never. Almost all people procrastinate, that lead to cramming sessions and flop output. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail, as they say. So, to avoid failures, one should stop procrastination.

There are stages of procrastination. The first stage is the false security. A person is going to set things aside when the deadline is not approaching yet or is not due today. Thus, finding a way to relax himself first or doing something rather than his main concern. The second one is the laziness which strongly associates procrastination. One can actually think to do a headstart but abruptly changes his mind because a thing pop out on his head or decides to sit up and do nothing instead, likely to lead on a ‘no’ answer. The last stage is the excuse that inevitably occurs to human nature. There are many excuses to procrastinating such as taking a short break, saying that there is ‘enough’ time or do not need sleep at all. These stages of procrastination is like a flow chart that end up with rushing an unpleasantly done output or no output at all.

Stop Procrastination

To stop procrastination, one must engage with himself first. Bear in mind that procrastination should not be exercised. Firstly, the most important thing to stop procrastination is to think of the limits. Once the person knows the perimeter of how narrow or broad his capability is, he should act according to it. A person should also observe his resources, time and place and consider them then decide what to do first.

Second, consider to read contexts about procrastination. Always remember, “Better late than never but never late is better.” Do not consider the line, “At least I did it.” It shoves the person to always hurry things off beam.

Third, remember of not cramming all the way to finish things on the due. Asking other people for help is fine.

Fourth, one person can engage on time management. He can personally use timetables and to-do lists to arrange time and to avoid tight schedules. Calculating time is also good for those who strictly follow their day-to-day tasks.

Fifth, it is a great thing to reward oneself when doing difficult tasks to avoid pushing it to other plans. Try to do things first then recompense it with worthwhile things.

Lastly, think of the time when a person do not procrastinate. It is very effective especially when realizing that procrastinating is not good when practiced.
There are many ways to stop procrastination and it depends on how a person avoid it. Some people decide for their own means of dealing with it.

Getting ready with your goals.

When a person do not procrastinate, he becomes more positive and goal-oriented. Creating personal goals has a corresponding period of time. So it is essential to estimate both goals and time.

A person should consider short and long term goals first. It is important because these forecast how long the time is needed so as to avoid difficulties.

It is then required to set short term goals according to priorities. When it is set, a person should perform it according from his highest priority to lowest. Planning long term goals ahead of time is very efficient for both short and long term goals.

Getting ready with your goals and avoiding procrastination together make a great combination. Always bear in mind that procrastination do not choose you. You are the one choosing procrastination.
